Strengthen Children Of RMG worker’s Protection and Education rights (SCOPE)

Working Area: Ward- 05 & 06, Mirpur, Dhaka, Ward- 03, Pathalia & Ward- 08, Dhamsona, Savar, Dhaka
Goal: Children of RMG workers in Dhaka and Savar can realize their rights to quality and inclusive protection and education services.
Objective:

1. Enhance the protection of children of the garment workers through care, protection and prevention services at community level.

2. Improve children of garments workers’ age-appropriate development and grade level competency.

3. Create a supportive and gender-sensitive environment at family, community and industry level for enhanced protection and education of children of garments workers through sensitization and advocacy.

Significant Achievements/ Milestone:
  • Established 04 daycare including Eary Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) services for 2 to 5 years old children of RMG workers.
  • Established 04 children space for 6 to 18 years old community children.
  • Case Management Support for community children including providing assistive devices for the children of disabilities.
  • After school Remedial Support for the children of RMG workers grade 6 to 8.
  • Providing STEM Education for the children of RMG workers grade 6 to 9 to enrich knowledge on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
  • Advocacy with Local Govt. Institutes and RMG owners to receive necessary supports for the children and sustainability of the services within the community.
  • Dialogue sessions between stakeholders and children to raise the voice of demand of the community children.
  • Providing sessions on child rights and Life Skills for Success (LS4S) for the children aged between 6 to 18.
  • Providing training on Positive Parenting in Everyday Parenting (PDEP) to daycare parents and community parents as well.
  • Community Volunteer Groups i.e., Children Groups, Adult Groups, Centre Management Committee (CMC) etc.

Direct:
Children of RMG workers: 1,760 (Girl: 1,232, Boy: 528)
Adult RMG workers: 2,420 (Female: 1,694, Male: 726)

Indirect:
Children of RMG workers: 5,280 (Girl: 3,168, Boy: 2,112)
Adult RMG workers: 7,260 (Female: 4,356, Male: 2,904)

Stakeholder: Ready-Made Garments Factory, Local Govt. Institutes (Department of Social Services, Department of Secondary Education, Ward Councilor, Union Parishad), Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed (CRP), BARDO, ICDDRB, Nogor Sastho Kendro, NGOs, Police Station, etc.
Project Duration: February 2025 – September 2026
Project Budget: BDT. 26,093,026 equivalents to EURO 208,411
